Ian Tyson joins Hugh this week to talk about his music his horses and share some stories from the Tyson
Ranch. Baxter Black talks about a way to undo some of the things we wish we'd never done, Hugh talks
about the value of a good ranch horse on the Horse Training File. There's Rangeland news and a terrific
piece of cowboy poetry to round out this hour of great radio.

World Class horseman Chris Cox is back this week with his views on the various Trainer's
Challenges and some interesting insight into horse behavior. Baxter Black has a story about
what could be the smartest dog in the world, There's great cowboy poetry and very listenable
mix of contemporary and classical songs of the west as well as the Rangeland News.

Hugh & Blazer looking back over some of the tracks we made in 2011.
It's the Best of the Spirit of the West from 2011 this week. Hugh brings back some of the most amazing stoires folks have
shared, from beavers attacking horses to a rancher who wrestles a horse trader to get a better deal. The music list
contains the songs that brought the biggest response from the audience in the past year. There's the best of Baxter
Black and the top piece of cowboy poetry all included in the best of 2011 this week.

where their enjoying Christmas with the family and looking forward to the cruise next week.
It's Christmas from the McLennan Ranch this week with a big collection of Western flavored Christmas music, stories from
ranching families about their Christmas Tradition, Baxter Black and a cowboy version of the first Christmas and some
special Cowboy Poetry for this time of year. Hugh's wife Billie will join Hugh to help him make a decision on what to
play next.

This week Hugh talks about the "Cowboy Code" some of the traditional values held to by the men and women who are in the
elite category of "top hands". Wyoming cowboy and singer Mike Hurwitz shares some examples of how he was raised with
these traditions. The Cowboy poetry spotlight has a very special story written and recited by Brian Salmond, about a
broncy horse that helped make Christmas real for a ranching family. The music has the flavor of Christmas in Cattle
Country with some special songs of the west.
